![]() I do have high DPI scaling turned off (flag turned on). I could get 2 go to full screen and turn on hardware acceleration and high resolution. I checked my copies of Bejewled 2 Deluxe and Bejeweled 3. I got most of my bejeweled games from Amazon in disk format after I got mad at PopCap for abandoning the free versions they gave of these games. When I get done, I'll still have a bit under 950 games installed! That's after "skipping" over 250 (I decided I didn't want them - usually DARKER HOGs or HOGs that were really Adventure games or solitaire games that looked different but were really the same game - 8Floor by MyPla圜ity). Quality programming leads to flexible games that are mostly independent of the OS! It is surprising how old some of these games are and they still work but much newer games go bonkers. I'm ALMOST done! I still have about 12 games to install - all dating back to around 2005 or 2006 when I was using ME. In almost every case, if I use windowed (with or without high DPI scaling), I get sound but not when full-screen. I have found that the problem I had a few weeks ago with the sound is a common one with my transitioning. In some cases, I still have to use high DPI because the window is too tall to see the bottom options windowed and there is no control to adjust the size of the window. ![]() The one case where the "compatibility troubleshooter" doesn't put it's 2 cents in is if you're Windowed!įortunately, a 27" monitor is big enough that I can usually see things fine windowed. I don't think I want to play with the register and that's about the only way I can do it. There is a group policy to enable/disable the PCA service, which sets this registry key - I don't know if it would be a quicker way to turn PCA on/off using two different. I *think* that if you just stop it it'll just start up again, & on this PC it's running now, and set to Manual so I don't *think* that would work either. Otherwise, you can stop the Program Compatibility Assistant Service or more likely set it to disabled. However, searching the registry for the copy of Win10 I'm using now for the term "ExecutablesToExclude" turns up this key, which I edited to remove the app listed since it would be just garbage to anyone else. In regedit navigate to the new ExecutablesToExclude value, & double click to add the path & file names, one per line in the box that opens, e.g. reg - double click to merge or add to registry. It says to use the following registry entry - copy/paste the following in a new text file in notepad, save it, & rename. ![]() support.microsoftcom/en-us/help/2545347/excluding-programs-from-the-program-compatibility-assistant-pca This issue not only stops you playing it wipes out your saves that you invested hours in and your just left with whatever achievements you have earned but that's courtesy of steam not EA.Įxception: Access Violation (code 0xc0000005) at address 0076AF6E in thread 1418Ġ019F50C 0076AF6E 0001:00369F6E Bejeweled3.This was/is interesting - Thanks! Īs far as I can tell Microsoft provides one relevant document, and that applies to Vista & Server 2008. I can't believe it, this issue has been around for two years and yet clearly EA or popcap have just ignored it, there are still people on steam (including me) getting this issue and the game is still being sold but no mention that if your monitor is more than a couple of years old you can't play it.
